• New members of all KWYO orchestras are admitted via auditions including returning members of Youth Orchestra (the advanced level)
• KWYO in-person (live) auditions are an opportunity to meet our faculty and to learn what we offer

  • Youth Sinfonia (intermediate orchestra)
    • May 26 (Tues), 5 - 7:00 pm, First United Church, Waterloo
  • Youth Orchestra (advanced level symphony)
    • May 30 (Sat) WLU, Faculty of Music
      • Strings: 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
      • Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion: 2:00 - 3:30 pm
    • May 31 (Sun) WLU, Faculty of Music
      • Strings: 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
      • Woodwinds, Brass & Percussion: 2:00 - 3:30 pm
    NOTE:
    Please keep your selected time block available. Exact audition times will be assigned by KWYO staff. If you cannot attend the audition in person, please select the Video Audition option.
• Your in-person audition will take between 8-10 minutes
• Conductors and professional musicians from the community will evaluate the following areas of your performance: tone quality, secure intonation, accurate pitches, rhythm & tempo, dynamic range and the style of music played
• KWYO is actively seeking young musicians playing viola, double bass, oboe, bassoon, French horn, trumpet and trombone. Auditions on those instruments are available throughout the season
• Audition results are communicated to candidates within 72 h following their audition day
• Successful candidates are expected to complete their KWYO enrollment to secure their placement in an orchestra upon receiving the acceptance notification
