KWYO Audition INFO
- Prospective KWYO members of all 4 orchestras are admitted via auditions
- KWYO in-person (live) auditions are an opportunity to meet our faculty and to learn what we offer
- Returning members are expected to audition each season. The only exception to this policy are members of the Preludium Strings returning to our entry level orchestra for 2nd year of instruction
- Please refer to the audition requirements to determine which KWYO orchestra best matches your instrumental skill level. Required audition materials consist of scales, a solo of own choice and selected orchestral excerpts (except for Preludium Strings)

- 2025-26 Auditions Update - Spring Auditions have concluded, but KWYO is still accepting applications for the 2025–26 season. Auditions remain open for all groups and instruments, except flute in the Youth Orchestra (flute seats are now filled).
- In-Person Auditions - Saturday, September 6
- Youth Strings: 9:00 - 10:30 AM
- Youth Orchestra (except flutes): 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Please keep the relevant time block open. Exact times will be assigned by KWYO staff. Applicants who cannot attend in person must select the Video Audition option.
- Preludium Strings and Youth Sinfonia applicants are also required to submit a Video Audition.
- In-Person Auditions - Saturday, September 6
- Your in-person audition will take between 8-10 minutes
- Conductors and professional musician from the community will evaluate the following areas of your performance: tone quality, secure intonation, accurate pitches, rhythm & tempo, dynamic range and the style of music played
- KWYO is actively seeking young musicians playing viola, double bass, oboe, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba. Auditions on those instruments are available throughout the season
- Audition results are communicated to candidates within 72 h following their audition day
- Successful candidates are expected to complete their KWYO enrollment to secure their placement in an orchestra upon receiving the acceptance notification
